Acupuncture for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding

30 January 2019 Holistic Acupuncture

This is an interview with Laura, F., full time teacher in her 30’s, regarding abnormal uterine bleeding also referred to as unexplained uterine bleeding. This is bleeding which does not fit within the normal ranges or a menstrual cycle.

Why did you come for acupuncture treatment?

I came for treatment following seven years of attempted medical treatment for unexplained menstrual bleeding. I was apprehensive as don’t like needles but a friend suggested acupuncture may be able to help.

What was your experience of treatment?

I have been surprised by the fact acupuncture is pain free and that you can actually feel the acupuncture points being contacted. I have actually found it relaxing and particularly liked the introduction of Moxa which I have been able to use at home too.

How did acupuncture help you?

Acupuncture has massively aided regulating my cycles and has made the condition completely manageable now. It’s has had a huge impact on my life. Sian has always explained the theories behind what she is doing and I have incorporated more holistic therapies into my life. Western medicine completely failed to help my condition and acupuncture has almost completely rectified it.

If someone had a similar issue as you and was considering acupuncture, what advice would you give them?

I would advise acupuncture to all my friends (and have!). The impacts hormonal medicines can have on your body can be long lasting, I was so glad to stop taking these and find a natural way to manage my health.
